south shore addition - Weymouth, MA

A historic Federalist style Farm House on the South Shore of Boston, originally built in 1838 is in need of an update and an addition. The existing house which consists of approximately 1,500 square feet will be expanded by 1,000 square feet which will include a new arrival deck, foyer, flexible suite (library/guest bedroom), mudroom, as well as a new master suite with a balcony. The addition maintains some of the traditional design and architectural language of the original house, with a modern approach to the massing and architectural details. The main volume of the addition is wrapped in painted cedar shingles to tie into the original house, and areas that are pushed in, or pop out are highlighted with clear cedar clapboards.
