A bare open loft space with tall concrete ceilings, and warehouse windows in an old mill building in East Boston was divided by a very simple white box volume which housed the loft's only bathroom. With available space above the white box, the client requested to utilize this space for an office space. The solution was to wrap the box in bamboo to soften the overall space, as it unwraps and unravels to define the bedroom, and create a stair leading up to the new office space.
