vermont country house - green mountains, vt
A client from Boston who owns a significant amount of land in rural Vermont requested a design for a new country house on their property. The design is understated, with a very simple rectangle which is covered by a prominent roof with deep overhangs. Part of the rectangular volume raises above the roof line to create a loft like space as a look-out. The tower element splits the roof and pushes it out to create canopies at both the main entrance, and the door leading to the deck. The main living spaces have glazed walls which allow for expansive views of Vermont’s Green Mountains in the distance.
